Children's Treatment

Dr. Ryan has recently begun providing trainings for Globe Star, LLC and Quality of Life Institute. Globe Star, LLC dedicates itself to promoting the social vision and philosophy of Gentle Teaching to promote gentleness in healthcare, caregiving, and Quality of Life services for people with developmental and intellectual challenges. The Quality of Life Institute affiliated with Globe Star, LLC, recognizes that caregivers, mentors, and practitioners must become familiar with the Gentle Teaching philosophy through modeling and experiencing it themselves.

The science behind multisensory environment treatment is based on evolutionary neurobiology. Two powerful processes within the brain that influence human behavior in every moment in time are the relaxation response and reward chemistry. Both are important in shaping human behavior over the lifespan. Both are important in MSE treatment when complemented by Dr. Ryan’s compassion focused therapy. These photos were taken by Linda Messbauer, OTR/L, owner of Sen-sational Environments. One demonstrates use of the MSE to facilitate the pleasant feeling of the relaxation response. The other demonstrates use of the MSE to facilitate the joyful feeling of reward chemistry in the brain.
